What is the machining principle and process flow of gear?

The processing of gears is divided into two main methods in principle: 1) copying method 2) forming method, also known as developing method.

The copying method is to process on a milling machine with a disk milling cutter or finger milling cutter with the same shape as the tooth groove of the gear.
The forming method is also called the forming method, which uses the meshing principle of the gear to cut the profile of the gear teeth. This method has high precision and is the main method of gear tooth machining at present. There are many types of forming methods, including gear shaper, gear hobbing, shaving, grinding, etc., among which the most commonly used are gear shaper and gear hobbing, shaving and grinding are used for occasions with high precision and finish requirements.
The machining process of gear includes the following processes: gear blank processing, tooth surface processing, heat treatment technology and tooth surface finishing.
Helical gear
The blank parts of the gear are mainly forgings, rods or castings, of which the forgings are used most. The blank is first normalized to improve its cutting type and facilitate cutting. Then roughing, according to the requirements of gear design, the blank is first processed into a rough shape to retain more margin;
Then semi-finishing, turning, rolling, gear shaper, so that the basic shape of the gear; After heat treatment of the gear, improve the mechanical properties of the gear, according to the requirements of use and the different materials used, there are tempering, carburizing hardening, high frequency induction hardening of the tooth surface; Finally, the gear is finished, the base is refined, and the tooth shape is refined.
